Sam plummeted/fell/crashed to the ground with a loud/sharp/painful thud/sound/crash.

Sam was having a little down. He wanted to have a new pal to play with. One day, while he was exploring in the woods, he spotted something different. It was a little creature with glowing scales. Sam slowly approached the creature and said, "Hello! What's your title?" The creature grinned and answered Sam, "You can call me Lily!" And so, Sam made a new friend. They spent the rest of the day playing together.
Sam was so happy to have found a new friend. He knew that he and Lily would be close buddies forever.
